engineering graphics sucks

why we still have eg as a subject in engineering? autocad is much better!

i suck at drawing, i can't even draw a circle perfectly with compass, thats why i took science, cause i had interest in computer languages, but now here i have to draw.

we have 5 topics mainly for semester exam in graphics

• engineering curves
• orthographic projections
• isometric projections
• projection of lines
• projection of solids

for practicals we used to draw this projections on pc (autocad) and there it is much better to understand.

i scored 15/15 in internal test 1 as it was based on lines and points only which was basics & in internal test 2 i scored 15/15 because it was an autocad exam.

today i had my semester exam and i had my worst experience,

first of all when invigilator gave us the answer sheet and told us to draw all sums (approx 5 sums were there) on one paper, yes you heard right one paper (front & back), and i can't do that so i had to skip one big sum of 15 marks.

so i started with the drawing & drew the following questions,

on first page

• simple orthographic fv and tv (6 marks), 3 confirm as i drew only fv
• curves, cycloid (6 marks), 5 confirm
• sectional orthographic (15 marks), 7 confirm as i drew only fv and rhsv, tv was hard

on second page

• isometric sum (9 marks), 8 confirm
• solids sum (6 marks), 5 confirm
• lines sum (15 marks), which went wrong so 2-4 marks confirm

to draw the isometric sum i had to erase the full made solid sum and redraw it more compactly so that i save space and after this much work i drew isometric sum and this took me an hour, total exam was of three hour btw.

so when last 10 minutes where there our hod came and told us that if anyone wants extra paper can take it, and i was like wtf, you have to inform this earlier, our invigilator only told us that we have to draw all in one single sheet.

my friends also losed some questions due to this, and i will only get 30 marks due to this paper management, also this semester was of 3 months due to covid and all.

also i am the university topper in semester 1 as the subjects were nice and got some time to study, now in semester 2, i can't get good cgpa as i fucked up in drawing, i have done better in other subjects but still that cgpa matter hurts when you studied and not get good marks due to external factors.

at last just pray for me that i should pass in engineering drawing as i don't want a kt cause clearing it in next semester would make other subjects boring for me, i came in engineering for computers and they teached me drawing!.
